Seit einiger Zeit widmen viele Musiklabels dem Thema EBM wieder mehr Aufmerksamket. So auch das Alfa Matrix Label, das mit dem Sampler Electronic Body Matrix I insgesamt 112 Songs – verteilt auf 4 CDs und eine Downloadcard – unter die Hörerschaft bringt.

Electronic Body Matrix 1

Mit Front 242, Leaether Strip oder Pouppée Fabrikk finden sich seit geraumer Zeit namenhafte Größen der EBM-Szene im Repertoire des Labels.

Das Hauptprogramm von Alfa Matrix besteht demgegenüber meist aus Dark Electro und Aggrotech. Bisherige Sampler betonten diesen technoiden Aspekt elektronischer Musik. Zum 10-Jährigen Bestehen geht Electronic Body Matrix I neue Wege.

Alfa Matrix fasst den Begriff EBM dabei weit und bietet – im Gegensatz zu reinen EBM-Samplern wie Swedish EBM oder der Out Of Line Compilation Electronic Body Music – eine bewusst ausgewählte Kombination klassisch geprägter Electronic Body Music und tanzbaren Electrotracks. So heißt es:

Electronic Body Matrix marks Alfa Matrix’s 10 years of existence. Revisiting the roots of the old school ‘Electronic Body Music’ movement and bridging them together with the current electronic sound. The sampler pays homage to the various branches of the electronic music genre throughout the last decades, gathering pioneers, leading figures of today’s scene, rising new talents and artists who deserve to be discovered.
