So schnell kann es gehen, 2018 werden Soft Cell 40 Jahre alt. Marc Almond und Dave Ball feiern ihre intensive und bewegte Geschichte, sie legen sich zum Finale so richtig ins Zeug: Mit der brandneuen Single Northern Lights zollen die Musiker der skandinavischen Musikszene ihren Respekt.

Ein Titel, der Soft Cell auf den Leib geschrieben ist und in Hinblick auf Stimmung, Struktur und Klang intensive 80er Jahres Vibes ausstrahlt. Mit Guilty (Cos I Say You Are) findet sich ein weiterer neuer Song auf der Single, welche am 28. September erscheint.

Soft Cell Abschiedskonzert

Und dann geht es ganz schnell: Zwei Tage später mündet die Reunion im Abschiedskonzert des Duos. Es trägt den ebenso rührigen wie passenden Namen Say Hello, Wave Goodbye, der letzte Auftritt geht in der Londoner O2-Arena über die Bühne.

Die Single Nothern Lights befindet sich ebenfalls auf dem am gleichen Tage erscheinenden Rückblick der Band. Diese extrem umfangreiche Box hört auf den Namen The Singles – Keychains & Snowstorms (Ltd.9cd+Dvd Box Edt.)*. Sie bietet neben den Hits der Band viele Raritäten, Liveaufnahmen und eigentlich alles, was man über Soft Cell wissen sollte.

Hiermit enden vier Jahrzehnte, in welcher Soft Cell Musikgeschichte geschrieben und für unvergessene Momente (Sex Dwarf, Martin, Heat, The Art Of Falling Apart, Memorabilia und viele, viele mehr) gesorgt haben.
